UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS
REGULAR MEETING – MAY 11, 2015 – 7:33 P.M.
CLASSROOM “A” OF THE HIGH SCHOOL
The Regular Meeting of the Corsica Board of Education was held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 7:33 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
Members Present: Jeremy Wright, Bob Bamberg, Vanessa Miiller, Kent DeBoer, Jason Lagge, Nicole Bamberg, Jared Gerlach.
Officers Present: Vern DeGeest, Superintendent, Scott Muckey, Secondary Principal; Merna Bye, Business Manager.
Guest Present: Pastor John Gorter, Kris VanZee, Globe Reporter
Pastor John Gorter gave the opening prayer.
President Wright called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. and a quorum was present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Motion by Nicole Bamberg seconded by Vanessa Miiller to approve the agenda with the additions as listed. Carried.
Open Forum/Public
Discussion
There was no open forum/public discussion at this meeting.
Unfinished Business
Sound System- tabled until the June 2015 meeting.
Shot Clocks- discussion was had on the installing of the shot clocks.
Motion by Vanessa Miiller seconded by Jason Lagge to approve the minutes of the April 13, 2015 Regular Meeting Minutes. Carried
Motion by Jason Lagge seconded by Kent DeBoer to approve the April 2015 Financial Statement as presented. Carried.
Motion by Jason Lagge seconded by Nicole Bamberg to approve the April 2015 Trust and Agency Report with a beginning balance of $11,047.99; disbursements of $4,567.00; receipts of $1,905.92 for an ending balance of $8,386.91. Motion carried.
Approval of Bills
Motion by Vanessa Miiller seconded by Nicole Bamberg to approve the listing of the bills for the May 2015 meeting. Carried

Approve Algebra 1 –
80% Waiver
Motion by Nicole Bamberg seconded by Vanessa Miiller to approve the Algebra 1 – 80% waiver. Motion carried.
SDHSAA Amendment and Positions
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Jared Gerlach to vote “Yes” on Amendment #1-creating a separate administrative entity designated as the Board of Directors of the SDHSAA; to vote for Mike Schmidt, Wilmot High School as the East River At-Large Representative; Monte Wagner, Platte-Geddes School District as the Small School Group Board of Education and Bud Postma Activities Director from Madison High School. Motion Carried.
All the above amendments may be reviewed in their entirety in the Superintendent’s Office.
Driver’s Education
Motion by Vanessa Miiller seconded by Nicole Bamberg to pay Vern DeGeest $100.00 per day for 8 Driver’s Education students for the 2014-2015 school year. Carried.
Golf Coach
Motion by Vanessa Miiller seconded by Nicole Bamberg to pay Vern DeGeest $662.00 and Rocky Nelson $662.00 (each ½ the head golf coach salary) for the 2014-2015 school year. Carried.
Severance Pay
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Jason Lagge to pay unused sick leave to the following: Paul Mah 10 days, Vern DeGeest 43 days, Donna Noteboom 40 days and Sharon VanMarel 39 days all at $10.00 per day. Motion carried.
Others
The building committee will gather information on a new garage for the school owned house and discussion was held on the Summer Recreation League Fundraiser.
Executive Session –
SDCL 1-25-2 (1) Staff
At 8:23 p.m., motion by Jason Lagge seconded by Nicole Bamberg to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Carried. Declared out of executive session at 9:08 p.m. by President Wright.
Adjourn
There being no further business, motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Jason Lagge to adjourn at 9:09 p.m. Carried. The next regular meeting will be held on June 8, 201 at 7:30 p.m. in Classroom A at Corsica High School. Carried.
