UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS
REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 13, 2014 7:30 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the Corsica Board of Education was held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school library.
Members Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Bob Bamberg, Vanessa Miiller, Kent DeBoer, Jason Lagge, Nicole Bamberg and Jared Gerlach.
Officers Present: Vern DeGeest, Superintendent, Scott Muckey, Principal and Merna Bye, Business Manager.
Guest Present: Kris VanZee representing the Globe
President Wright called the regular meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and a quorum was established.
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Nicole Bamberg to approve the agenda with the additions as presented. Carried.
Motion by Nicole Bamberg seconded by DeBoer to approve the December 9, 2013 minutes. Carried.
Motion by Lagge seconded by Gerlach to approve the December 2013 Financial Statement as presented. Carried.
RESOLUTION #240
Supplemental Budget
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Lagge to approve the following Supplemental Budget for FY 2013-2014 :
Capital Outlay Fund
Appropriations: 21-2539-305-530-532) Track/Football Field Improvements $21,825.00
Means of Finance: 21-1920-305) Private/Business Donations $20,825.00
SD Community Foundation 1,000.00
UPON ROLL CALL VOTE: Aye Gerlach, Nicole Bamberg, Lagge, DeBoer, Miiller, Bob Bamberg and Wright. Motion Carried.
Motion by Lagge seconded by DeBoer to approve the December 2013 Trust and Agency Report with a beginning balance of $14,146.35 disbursements of $3,422.17 receipts of $3,818.27 for an ending balance of $14,542.45. Carried.
Lagge moved to approve the listing of bills for the January 2014 meeting including the added billing for snow removal. Seconded by Bob Bamberg and carried.

Miiller moved to approve the December 2013 Mid-Central Meeting minutes. Seconded by DeBoer and carried.
Joint School
Committee Notes
Notes were reviewed from the December 17, 2013 Joint School Committee Meeting. A copy of the notes from the Administrators Meeting on January 10, 2014 was also presented to the board with discussion.
Nicole Bamberg left the meeting.
Election Official
Appointments
Motion by Miiller seconded by Gerlach to approve the following school board election officials: Mary Vant Haaff, Ruby DeVries and Doris Markus. Dona Bamberg will serve as an alternate. Carried.
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Miiller to set Tuesday, June 17, 2014 as the annual school board election date. The only voting precinct will be the high school music room. Motion carried.
School Board
Recognition Certificate
ASBSD is currently recognizing the states school boards. Corsica Board of Education members have been recognized for the dedicated leadership in public education and for improving achievement for all public school students.
Social
Media/Networking Policy
Discussion was held on policy/procedure as to handling staff/student use of cell phones and networking sites. Principal Muckey shared a couple of neighboring school policies for review. It was decided to table this discussion until the February 2014 regular board meeting.
Executive Session
At 8:21 p.m., motion by Miiller to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Seconded by Lagge and carried. Declared out of executive session by President Wright at 9:30 p.m.
Adjourn
There being no further business, at 9:31 p.m. motion by Miiller seconded by Gerlach to adjourn. Carried. The next regular meeting will be Monday, February 10, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
