UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS
REGULAR MEETING – AUGUST 12, 2013 – 7:38 P.M. – CLASSROOM “A”
The Regular Meeting of the Corsica Board of Education was held on Monday, August 12, 2013 – 7:38 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
Members Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Bob Bamberg, Vanessa Miiller, Kent DeBoer, Jason Lagge, Nicole Bamberg and Jared Gerlach.
Officers Present: Vern DeGeest, Superintendent; Scott Muckey, Secondary Principal and Merna Bye, Business Manager.
President Wright called the meeting to order at 7:38 p.m. and a quorum was established.
Motion by Lagge seconded by Nicole Bamberg to approve the agenda with additions as presented. Carried.
Motion by Lagge seconded by DeBoer to approve the July 8, 2013 Regular Meeting Minutes. Carried.
Motion by Lagge seconded by Miiller to approve the July 2013 Financial Statement. Carried.
Deposit of Interest
Motion by Miiller seconded by Nicole Bamberg to authorize the business manager to deposit interest earned in the district funds to the General Fund. Carried.
Motion by Lagge seconded by Miiller to approve the July 2013 Trust and Agency Report with a beginning balance of $11,505.03, disbursements of $403.51 receipts of $340.30 for an ending balance of $11,441.82. Carried.
Motion by Nicole Bamberg seconded by Bob Bamberg to approve the August 2013 listing of bills. Motion carried.
Motion by Miiller seconded by Gerlach to approve the July 2013 Mid-Central Co-op Minutes. Carried.
Joint School
Committee
Notes from the Joint School Committee meeting of July 18, 2013 were reviewed. The next Joint School Committee meeting will be August 21, 2013 at the Corsica High School.

School Lunch Prices
for 2013-2014
Motin by Miiller seconded by Gerlach to raise the school meal prices .10 cents for each catagory - Breakfast will be $1.45 for K-12 and $1.75 for Adults. Lunch will be $2.25 for K-4; $2.70 for 5-12 and $3.25 for adults. Motion carried.
ASBSD Convention
Vanessa Miiller and Jeremy Wright gave a report on the sessions attended at the ASBSD Joint Convention.
Season Pass and
Admission Prices
Motion by Miiller seconded by Lagge to set the following prices for activities – Family pass - $60.00; adult pass - $30.00, single pass - $10.00. Regular gate admission will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Senior Citizen passes will be issued for those 65 and older. Motion carried.
DOE District and
School Level Report Cards
Principal Muckey presented and reviewed, with the board, the results of the 2012-2013 SD Report Card Data for the Corsica School System.
Contract Approval
-Mah
Motion by Miiller to approve the the certified K-12 Instrumental/Vocal Music Instructor (50%) of Paul Mah and the part-time (50%) Music Assistant position of Paul Mah for the 2013-2014 school year. Motion seconded by Lagge and carried.
Bus Driver Contracts
Motion by Lagge to approve the full-time bus driver contract of Leonard Peters for the 2013-2014 school year. Motion seconded by Nicole Bamberg and carried.
Motion by Miiller to approve the full-time bus driver contract of Johanna Drnek for the 2013-2014 school year. Motion seconded by Bob Bamberg and carried.
District Handbooks
Motion by DeBoer seconded by Bob Bamberg to approve the district handbooks for the 2013-2014 school year. Carried.
Public School
Exception Certificates
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded Nicole Bamberg to approve exemption certificate I-13 for the 2013-2014 school year. Carried.
Open Enrollment
Approvals
Motion by Bob Bamberg to approve open enrollment forms A 13-14 and B 13-14 for school year 2013-2014. Seconded by Gerlach and carried.
Gas, Diesel, Heating
Fuel and Milk quotes
Motion by Nicole Bamberg seconded by Miiller to authorize the business manager to obtain quotes for gas, diesel and heating fuel on an as need basis. Carried. Corner Market will provide milk for the 2013-2014 school year.

Board Committees
The 2013-2014 Board Committee lists were presented to the board members.
Elementary Heating Fuel Tanks
Due to water in the underground heating fuel tank at the elementary building, DeBoer made a motion seconded by Nicole Bamberg to rent two above ground heating fuel tanks for the elementary building from Van Brothers for $60.00 a month for both. Carried.
Others
The board was updated on the progress of the track and football field project, given a copy of the revised calendar and a copy of the School/Community Improvement Council Wheel. A note from Attorney Gerry Kaufman informing the board that he has accepted a position with ASBSD and will no longer be able to assist the Corsica School District with legal matters.
Executive Session
At 10:13 p.m., motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Lagge to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Carried. At 10:23 p.m., declared out of executive session by the President.
Adjourn
There being no further business, at 10:24 p.m., motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Nicole Bamberg to adjourn. Carried. The next regular meeting will be held Monday, September 9, 2013 – 7:30 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
